Leather jackets and rain
Leather can survive a walk to the car. It should not survive a season of pretending a moto is Gore-Tex. Water darkens dye, salt leaves lines at the hem, and wet leather stiffens if you blast it with a radiator.
After you get wet
- Blot with a dry towel; do not rub wet dye into the lining
- Hang on a wide shoulder in airy shade
- Condition once fully dry, not while damp
- Use a shell layer if your commute is wet more than twice a week
Can leather jackets get wet? Briefly, yes. Should you plan on it? No.
